Boris
September 27, 2007

In learning that there are 32 political blogs worse than mine, I now feel obligated to actually write something. What better to start my blogging return that to talk about what everyone else is talking about today.
With Boris Johnson’s selection I feel torn between two contradictory ideas:
The first is my deterministic views on society, that society makes man and that of course the media control public opinion and if the tabloids decide to really push Johnson then London’s next mayor will be Tory HQ’s puppy. And the second that, generally, states get the rulers they deserve and so if Londoners are silly enough to vote for Johnson then they have said they want style over substance.
So I suppose I have to ask myself this: “If he was a Labour MP would I still think him an idiot?”. And If I wouldn’t: How can any of what I just wrote not be party political?
